Double 4 Drawer File Cabinet - $2995

SOLD

33" wide x 27" deep x 52" high.

Here is a most unusual and useful double 4 drawer file cabinet manufactured by the Yawman and Erbe Manufacturing Co. of Rochester, New York, at the end of the 19th Century. This cabinet has an interesting history. It dates from the early days of the company that was formed by two men, Philip Yawman and Gustav Erbe, employees of the Bausch and Lomb Co. of Rochester, New York. These two men pooled their thoughts and resources in May of 1880, to create their own company that became known as The Yawman & Erbe Mfg. Co. One of their novel ideas was to create a stacking file unit for versatility and ease of movement. That is exactly the unit that we are presenting here in restored condition. We have totally refurbished this file, which thankfully has all of its high quality original brass hardware in tact. There are 8 fully functional letter size (8 1/2" X 11") file drawers that can accept Pend-A-Flex file holders if you wish, or the original file support is also in tact in each of the drawers. Each section stacks one atop the other making this unit simple to move and to ship. Should you have need for a filing unit, we urge you to take a serious look at this cabinet. In 33 years of handling antique furniture, we have never had one of these cabinets. Finding one so complete makes this unit truly a treasure! Come by the shop and have a look or contact us soon for any necessary shipping arrangements.
